Policy Brief: Entrepreneur ecosystems as drivers of growth
4FRONT’s Vesa Salminen and Urban Mill’s Kari Mikkelä argue that entrepreneur ecosystems function as bridges between innovation and business ecosystems – therefore enabling growth.
This policy brief is part of the study commissioned by the Prime Minister’s Office on “Drivers and bottlenecks of start-up companies’ growth”. The brief emphasises the need of a new approach to ecosystem thinking. The term ecosystem has lately been used in a broad meaning. This brief specifies different approaches to ecosystems and underlines the importance of understanding the role of entrepreneurship.
Policy actions to improve ecosystems should be comprehensive and the focus be redirected from individual actors to the development of interactions between them.
